Red Princess; A Revolutionary Life

Princesses and a Russia changed for ever

I am reading two books concurrently at present, as is my wont. The first is Red Princess; A Revolutionary Life by Sofka Zinovieff and the second is Princess Olga; A Wild and Barefoot Romanov by HH Princess Olga Romanoff with Coryne Hall. For anyone with an interest in pre-Revolutionary history of the Russian aristocracy, both accounts (Zinovieff’s is a life of her grandmother, Sofka Dolgorouky) are fascinating – all the more so, in my opinion, because we learn how the families of both princesses coped with life after the Revolution and the subsequent cataclysmic changes to society.
